I just got some Lowa Tibets and took out the stock foot beds and replaced with the Superfeet Green. I wore them around a 3D bow shoot on saturday for the first time and the boots felt fine but at the end of the day after being on my feet for so long the bottoms of my feet were a little sore and it just felt like i had been standing on concrete all day. There isn't much cushion or give on those superfeet. are there other insoles that you would recommend that provide a little more cushion for my lady-like tootsies :)

Superfeet are are hard...IMO. I too, use the Lathrop footbeds a lot and also the Meindel [via Cabelas] cork foot bed....[order one size smaller than boot] ....those two seem to fit all my needs for various boots.

I tried the L&S footbed, and it was not for me... I didn't feel like it was that cushy... YMMV, but I couldn't stand them... I know I'm the exception to the rule... what size are you? I still have size 9 L&S synergies that have only been used once...

I ended up going for the cheaper Sofsole Air... and those feel great for me.

Again, YMMV

I couldn't stand them either. They slid all over the place in my boots, made my feet too hot, and weren't all that comfortable anyway. I use the Superfeet Orange.

I appreciate the offer but I need something in a size 13. I'll check out the sofsoles as well. Thanks.

I have tried the sof sole and they were nice but they broke down fast (like 2 months) for me.
They sure felt nice tho when they were new.

What kind of lifespan will a set of the Synergy have? Between Elk, Deer, Chukar, Pheasant, and 3D i'd probably wear them 30-40 days per year.

I think it's important to consider the differences in design between the synergy and superfeet. Superfeet are stiff all by themselves, in fact I run them in trail runners and muck boots because they add torsional ridgidity. In other words, they add stiffness to otherwise flexible soled footwear, and add a lot of support. If the green super feet feel to "hard" to you, it's worth considering the orange (women's equivalent are pink) which offer cushion in addition to the stiffness. Green superfeet have almost no cushion, but the orange/pink version have a considerable amount. I like the cushioned pink (orange) insoles in stiff footwear or when I pack a heavy load (I do summer backpack trips in saloman Speedcross trail runners with pink superfeet), and the green work well in softer soled shoes like sneakers/athletic shoes and rubber boots.

The synergy footbed is more like a gel insole, and doesn't offer anything in the way of torsional ridgidity that I can tell. But they are great in boots that already have a stiff sole. I have been running a pair in my Hanwag lady Alaskans for the last four seasons and they are still going strong. My Hanwags have a full shank, so I don't need additional stiffness from my insoles, just cushion and maybe the ability to reduce friction.

This is spot on. Great explanation.

I'm gonna give the Synergy Footbeds a try but have a question about the "custom fitting" process that's offered as an option. If I understand the footbed's description correctly, its a floppy, gel-like insert that can be cut to size by the consumer. If that's the case then what does, "professionally pattern, grind, and fit your Synergy footbed by hand," mean? Is this really necessary or are the included instructions and foot pattern sufficient? I'd rather not pay an additional $45 for someone to run a pair of scissors for me.

SuperFeet has a new hunt category which I used all last season. They've held up much better than my standard orange. Worth a look.
