I know I have started a lot of threads to get input for my upcoming moose hunt. I appreciate everybody’s input. Just trying to decide if we should haul an electric fence up there for bear deterrent around camp. I also saw some people use these critter getter sensors. Just curious what everybody would recommend. I regularly hunt in grizzly country in Idaho and Montana, but this is my first AK hunt. No weight limitations other than what the airline will allow in checked baggage. We are doing a DIY jet boat hunt.

Do you use a home made fence or one of those kits you can buy at sportsmans or cabelas?
UDAP Bear Fence. I would definitely set it up at home first because the first time is going to be a bit of a pain. The problem up here is finding ground clear enough to set one up, you can't have a bunch of brush or grass touching the wires. I bring a pair of garden shears for trimming the ground where the wires are and a longer grounding stake for when I'm set up on tundra and the stock stake wont reach a good ground. Also get a little tester, I've been surprised a few times when I thought I had everything perfect, slapped the tester on, and nothing...... never would have known without that tester. I'm not man enough to just grab it and see :ROFLMAO:

I've been told to use flagging tape (as pictured above) as you want bears to sniff at it (shock their nose).

I haven't used one yet but my father definitely had one scare a bear off a couple of years ago, so they do work. Only reason I haven't used one is I don't tend to hunt Brown Bear country often.
