I know this has been brought up before but not entirely clearly. I have a pair of Nevada’s I just bought and took them for a 4 mile hike with about 2,000’ of gain while in CO this weekend. Heels started getting hot spots and one foot just barely started to blister but I retied/tightened my boots up and nothing got any worse - there was a strange amount of pressure on my heel on inclines regardless of how tight the laces were tied that seemed foreign compared to other boots I have (Salomon GTX/Crispi Summits). I have a pair of Crispi Summits that feel like they have a bigger heel box and they fit me like a glove and I have never had this issue.

Comparing the two Crispi boots side by side, it’s apparent that the Summits have more angle/bigger box (I think - see photo)

Those of you that have the Nevada’s - did wearing them in change any of the dynamics in the boot? They’re awfully stiff and I’m wondering if movement will feel more natural if the leather softens up. I think I have that Haglund condition but has never affected me before and like I said, the Summits just flat work. I just need a boot I can use in November and December and was really hoping the Nevada would do it.

Ive bought the Nevada, Thor, and the newest Lapponia...all of them felt super comfortable when laced Up ,,, all of them WRECKED my heel on the mountain.... the Nevada’s were much worse than the others, assuming becuz of how Much sidehilling I do and how stiff they were... the Lathrop Synergy footbed has made these Lapponia sumwhat tolerable.., but I’m out on Crispis from now on... just don’t work for my feet...

And to clarify,, I gave them all a great chance.. there was no break in issue.. over 50-100 miles on all of them

Funny. I just logged in to make a similar post about my Crispi Valdres that I got yesterday. Put them on at home and they seemed 'snug', but not too bad. Took them out on a 3 mile loop last night and same issue - pressure/sliding on my right heel. I thought maybe it was a sizing issue and I should have gotten a size bigger, but I wear size 12 in everything, so I assumed Crispi would be the same. Now I'm wondering if it might just be the cut of the boot that doesn't fare well for me.

There seems to be a theme here, I've been running the Wyomings for the last 1.5 months and had no issues in conditioning hikes or scouting hikes leading up to the September opener. Probably put 75 miles plus on them in a "break-in periond" with anywhere from 15-45lbs and varied terrain.

The first hike into camp before the opener, only 3 miles and 42lbs, both heels were hot and I ended up using some Leuko to get through the rest of the trip. I don't know if it was a lacing issue, a material breakdown issue or just the theme. I'll be running them again this weekend, quad base camp and day hikes w/ 15lbs or less, and will see what happens.

The Leuko won't be far out of reach.

Crazy thing is the Nevada’s are really comfortable. I climb stairs in a 20 story building as part of my regimen and the boots never caused me any concern. But as soon as I was on an actual incline, it became apparent things weren’t right. Really a shame, the summits are my favorite boot I own right now. Just ordered some Schnee Granites, hope they’re an improvement
