Hey guys I’m in the market for new hunting boots. I’ve never owned a higher end boot so I’ve been doin lots of homework. Since I live in New Mexico this is where I hunt. I hunt Elk, Muleys, antelope, Barbary sheep. The weather up here is kinda weird so I can sometimes hunt all seasons in one day. The terrain is flat, rugged, rocky .
I’ve been eyeing this two boots but since I can’t try them on. I’m looking for opinions from hunters who’ve had some experience with them. I know that it’s about the way the shoe fits. My plan is to order as many pairs of boots and keep what I like and fit best.
Your input and opinions are greatly appreciated.

I really like the Dakota. Don't underestimate the lacing system on these. After the laces come up your foot, there's a lace lock that allows you to leave the lacing on your foot tight or loose, and then separately come up your ankle and lace it however you want. I don't know if I'm explaining it well. . . It's also a pretty light boot and really comfortable with lots of ankle support.

Very interested in these, have you had them out in the field yet? How do they perform?

I have. They're pretty great. They have great traction and I feel like they have a good balance of stiffness, ankle support, and weight for an all around boot. I do think I should have got a half size bigger. My toes butt into the end of the boot a little after a while of hiking and going down hill. But the way the laces work you can lock in the heel really well and the "jamming" of the toe into the end of the boot is minimized if that's a problem. Also, the rubber at the toe, did start to separate just barely. Crispi took care of it straight away.

Do the the dakotas run small? I’m right in between 11-11.5 wide and not sure what to get. No dealers close bye

I don't think so. I'd say they're pretty true to size. There're a little small at 8's. Mostly just short but j don't notice it unless I've hiked a lot and in warm weather. I also where a lot of boots and shoes in 8.5 and I think that's more my footsize.
