Crispi Thor durability???

It’s been a few years but did crispy ever address the durability issues on these boots. I had a pair several years ago which were awesome but they lasted less than a year.

Has anybody recently given the new version a try? Are they more durable or the same?

I've got 2 seasons so far on mine - this is for deer/elk/antelope/upland hunts plus scouting in them. I haven't hunted in any uber extreme terrain but so far they are holding up just fine and still waterproof.

I bought a pair in the spring or summer of 2020 and used them through the 2023 season. Used them year round didn’t & have any issues.
I wasn’t the biggest fan of the fit or the laces but they held up great. Probably had close to 800 miles on them before I noticed leaking & the sole split from the rest of the boot.

Frankly my experience with Crispi boots has only been great.

Interesting, I have 3 pairs of Crispi boots (not specifically the Thors) and all have been absolute mosters in terms of holding up. The Briksdals not nearly as much so as the all leather guides but all have been champs. I would have assumed the Thors would have been very similar to the Briksdals.

I couldn't locate a nice thread to slide this in but here's the life of one pair of Thor II's:

Purchased: 2/10/24...and worn daily at work...just average driving and walking around
Trained Hard: 3/3-4/28…44lbs pack 1-2 miles per night in addition to being work during day...last week of this window was long days at Shoot2Hunt University and bear hunting.
Daily Use: 4/29-7/22: average driving and walking around, some light trail hiking here and there.
Trained Hard: 7/23-10/30...44lbs pack 1-2 miles per night in addition to work...last week of this window was long days moose hunting.
Daily...

Not sure how new you’re talking, but I junked a pair in like 2023 after using for a few years. The goretex bootie split along the outside of the ball of my right foot and the boots leaked like crocs after that. And the soles were worn down like racing slicks. But they were comfy and looked used but not hammered.

The ones on the Thor2 break right where they go thru that loop before lace up. I used paracord to get more time on my last pair. Broke within 2 weeks of each other. I'm going to get a new pair or switch to paracord before my next trip.

Yeah it’s their claw sole, they’re open about the fact that it doesn’t last well. If that’s your concern then no they haven’t changed to a different vibram sole so you’ll fight the same issues.

Very interesting. I’ve had mine in some actual torrentially wet conditions in the nastiest red clay mud imaginable and don’t seem to fight these issues. I do dry them out afterwards and scrub them to get the mud out of the material and laces but still.

I’m not saying you’re lying, I’m just saying I haven’t had the same experiences.

I know Hanwag makes some stiff options, but I’m not sure how lightweight they are.

Crispi also makes the Altitude, which is basically a leather Thor with a Vibram outsole. If you like Crispi that would be my suggestion.

I have Crispi guides, I like them but I'm not brand loyal to Crispi. I'll check out the altitudes, I mostly am looking for a lighter, less bulky boot that still has good support. The Thor has that but I just wore them out so fast that I can't justify doing it again.

I’ve really been liking the Salewa Rapace. Stiff boot but lightweight. I’m on my third pair and I use mine for work, summer backpacking and hunting season and I’ve been getting about 1.5 years out of them with heavy use.

I went on a quest to replace my Thors after my 3rd set. Closest I’ve found and liked are the Zamberlan Baltoro Lites. They lasted two seasons compared to one.
I tried the Zamberlans, Salewa Rapace, Hanwag Makra, and a pair of scarpas but can’t remember the model. Funny thing is I ended up with another set of Thors because if you look around, a few times a year they can be had for $190. Easier to swallow that price for a 1 year boot.
