Long time RS peruser, first time caller, but looking for some specific feedback/ advice.

Narrowed down new boots to Lapponia Lites or the IIIs but torn between them, mainly just because the Lites are marketed as ‘early season’ boots and the IIIs as ‘year round do it all-ers’ but:::

My feet don’t get cold (they run hot/ sweaty year round), I live and hunt and hike year round in the southern rockies: snow, boulder fields, scree slopes, steep grades, cactus, are the worst of it and the IIIs would seemingly make sense, but… I’ve walked, hiked, hunted, packed over all these terrains and weather in trail runners, worn out lone peak boots, even sanuks when walking the dogs off trail in the high desert; point being.. I don’t feel like I NEED a lot of ankle support, nor a warmer boot. Even on packed hunts in my Zamberlan Sierras, I feel like they’re too much, too stiff, uncomfortable, and for my feet, blister inducing as hell (will be selling).

Definitely a fan of ‘light and fast’. Just fixated on the marketing term ‘early season’ and don’t want to sell myself short with the Lites.

So is there any reason a smarter person than me can see for going the IIIs over the Lites?

I have only ever used the lites but I dont know what about them is "early season only". Its a full leather upper and feels as solid as any other boot I've owned. Overall I really like the build and the weight is perfect, but they rub my heel funny.

Buy the lites and dont look back IMO

95% there. Your feedback would have probably brought it to 100 but now shit… the weird heel rub is exactly why I’m bailing on my Zamberlans.

I know it’s specific to each individual but I don’t have ANYWHERE drivable to try some on

You can buy em, wear indoors keeping them like new with tags and return if they dont work. Get em dirty or remove the tags and you're stuck with em.

I just went through the comparing the IIIs to the lites. I only tested them indoors so I could return what didn’t work. At the end of the day I ended up liking the IIIs a bit better. The weight difference on my scale was about 3oz, so not a huge weight difference. The sole seemed much better on the regular lapponias when compared to the lites. Honestly the feel was similar but the more aggressive sole won me over.

I ended up sizing down a half size and went wide. They fit like a dream. I only have about 4 miles on them, but not even a hint of a hotspot anywhere so far.

The ‘like a dream’ sentiments the lapponias get in general is why I’m here
Thanks for the info.
Did you order them online and ship them back, or bought both in person and just returned?
