Well, I pulled the trigger on some Crispi Lapponia IIIs. They felt awesome in store just walking around, but as soon as I went out and started hiking up and down hills, my heels/Achilles began to KILL me. I went and got some new insoles which I hope will help, but what have other people's experience been? Can I hope they'll break in? Any unique lacing techniques to try?

Is your heel slipping? I had that with a Salewa, never could fix it but definitely try a few things before giving up. Lacing technique, stack the factory insert on top of yours this isn’t meant to be a permanent fix but just a trial to see if you need to take up a little more volume.

My heel definitely isn't moving, it's just pressure going uphill especially causing me pain. I'll try the double insole trick though to see.

What footwear were you wearing before these?

When was the last time you were measured? If it’s been awhile I would start there first. Always a good idea to get measured for length width and arch every few years or so as your feet can change.

For regular boots it's been awhile, but I recently was measured for ski boots which confirmed my size and measurements. I'm confident these are technically the right size.

Just wanted to verify. Studies show 60-70% of people are wearing to small of footwear. In my experience selling hunting boots that’s been pretty accurate. What ever you measure on a brannock go up a half for crispi as they are pretty true to size. Lapponias are a little wider so if you’re narrow they might not be the best option

I seem to have the same issue and I’m currently using Sheepfeet orthotics but have tried others. I used leukotape last hunt to avoid blisters. I’ve since switched lacing styles and am not using one eyelet so we’ll see if that helps. It’s almost like there’s too much heel lock combined with too much flex which doesn’t really make sense. I really like the boot otherwise. Generous toe box and they’ve been plenty durable for me.

I’m using superfeet hike in mine. I’ve been wearing crispi nevadas and lowa gtx before I bought these. Didn’t have that heal pulling problem with either of those. The first time I wore the lapponias, it felt like my heals were being pulled down to the point I thought I would have to return them. I stuck with it and gradually they quit pulling so much. I wore them on two elk and one deer hunt last fall and they were great boots for me.

I'm using the red Sole brand. I've had success with them as you heat mold them to your feet. But if they don't help I'll check out the Superfeet as well.

I really like these boots otherwise, so definitely want to figure out a way to make them work.

How long have you been using them?
