Used the regular non-insulated briksdals for the last few seasons and they have been plenty stiff for me. I think they’re an awesome all-rounder for someone that’s looking for a leather boot in the “4-flex” category. They also seem to breathe fairly well.

I have the SF- but I use them for sheep hunting. If you hunt CO above the tree line and frequent shale, Rokslide’s and such you may gain some support. Also on heavy pack outs it’s nice.

From a strict hunting standpoint they are too stiff for me. I would hunt CO elk during archery season in trail running shoes, then switch out to boots and pack frame on the pack outs.

thanks for the reply. that's a heck of an idea. go with more of a trail shoe for hunting and switch out. we'll be there first rifle season. so definitely some climbing but not sure i need or want the SF

i had a pair of Crispi legends gtx for over a decade and i still wear them today with duct tape to keep them together. absolutely my favorite boot ever. however, i bought a pair of Guide GTX's and don't feel like i get the ankle support...it's weird so trying to find something different to get broken in

I'd avoid the sf unless I wanted a mountaineering type stiff boot. I have the insulated regular version and just picked up the uninsulated. If I were in the alpine and 40 degree plus slope angle for greater than 3/4 of the day I'd consider it. I hunt the Wasatch and uintas a lot out here and don't need the stiffs for what I do. If I pick up a goat tag then they would be the first boot I'd look at.
