Good evening, I hope this little tie bit will help all of you that may be on the fence when purchasing new boots or if you want a flexible boot or stiffer boot. There are more options out there these days and it seems it can make your purchasing decision difficult, especially if your new to hunting.

Well it’s not a secret that I love gear and I love boots, so I thought I would give my two cents on these pair of boots and compare them to my Crispi Guides and Kenetrek Mountain Extremes 400g.

Over Labor Day Weekend I spend 4 days with my cousin in Hells Canyon helping him with his Elk Hunt. I wanted to see how well my Crispi Altitudes would do in that country and push there limits, or find there limits for my feet anyway. I knew that the Altitudes would be a little soft for the extreme terrain that Hells Canyon is known for and did have a back up pair of Crispi Guides those boots have my Sheep Feet insoles in them to give my feet a break if needed. Overall I am very impressed with the Altitudes and they are very comfortable with the LS insoles. We all know the first thing to do with any new boots is replace the insole. However with the Kenetrek I found there insole to be solid and comfortable. The Altitudes are very supportive and give me great ankle support and I would going up trails or down trails is very comfortable as well. Where the Altitudes fell short for me is in the side hilling and caused some pain in my L and R little toes. Noting major but it was uncomfortable and ended up switching to my Crispi Guides on the third day. Now with that said, I realize I was using the Altitudes for more than what they were made for, but i am very happy with how comfortable they were going up and down trails, and the ankle support that they have. Also they held up very well busting through brush and going through blow down. My feet never over heated and the boots allowed my feet to breath very well. If your looking for a boot that has good flex, can handle some steep terrain and is super comfortable out of the box you guys should try the Crispi Altitudes. But if your going in super steep terrain I would go with a stiffer boot for side hilling and more comfort in those situations. The boot does have a very nice athletic feel and has tons of grip.

I hope this helps you all and happy hunting to all!!

Taking the bottom lacing out worked a treat for me in that regard.
I have to run the wide and half a size up with my innersoles, but also my feet look like shoe boxers

I also run the wide, but with the LS insoles I didn’t feel that it took to much room out of the toe box. I will have to try the Altitudes without using the bottom lace. Thank you for the tip!
