Credo 3-9, Huron or Maven

How does the Maven RS.2 or CRS.1 compare to the Credo 3-9 or Huron 3-12?

I picked up one of the closeout Kimber Mountain Ascents and need glass for it now.

Mainly a whitetail stand hunter with legal light 30 minutes before and after sunrise/sunset and I like illumination for the first or last few minutes so I’m leaning towards the Credo.

I can't speak for the maven but I have both of those trijicons and I prefer the credo.

I have a 3-9 credo and a 3-9 huron. I cant tell them apart in terms of glass quality and eyebox/eye relief. Obviously the credo is illuminated. Both are available in good reticle options. My credo is a duplex which is a floating center reticle. Its a fine center, and I dont care as much for the floating reticle. Huron is a wall to wall reticle. Mine is a german #4 which I like a lot. I do not need illumination for it.

On a kimber you will almost certainly need to hacksaw off the throw lever on the 3-9 credo.

I have heard people say the 3-12 huron has noticeably tighter eye relief, although I have never used one.

Personally on that rifle Id go for a 3-9 Huron.

Something else to consider is the location of the power ring “lever” with a 90 degree bolt. The Huron shouldn’t be a problem, but the Credo likely will. I’d suggest the AccuPoint if you’re good with sfp. If you want better low light performance, get the 2.5-10X56. If you’re prioritizing weight, get the 3-9x40

Not likely, it IS a problem. The credo I have is on my wifes kimber—at 9x it is very difficult to work the bolt quickly without bleeding from that throw lever. Cut it off, or choose a huron or accupoint. I had to cut it off.

I've not had those Mavens but I've had Credo and still have Huron scopes. Credo is a great scope but as others stated might need a little customization. The Huron or Ascent is plug and play and are great scopes.

I have the CRS.1 and Huron. Equally good glass. The Maven is mounted on a Kimber Hunter and has always done great. The Trijicon is bombproof and takes the weight penalty.
