That's how I feel when people see multiple female deer and say "I had 4 doe come by" instead of just adding the "s" in does.

When my kids were little, they couldn't say 'coyote', so they were named cottie-yoties. And raccoons were pronounced as ractoons..... Fox was fockus.

Pucawn. A pee-can is what you keep under your bed when you don't have running water in the house and it's cold outside.

I’m linguistically adept…..If I’m feeling educated and pontifical I say ky-oat-ee. If I’m feeling down home and redneck I drop the ee. I have legit roots in both camps so I just speak the way I want to. ( Mom from a truck farm near Atlanta, Dad a yankee Colonel in the US Army with a masters in Bus Admin.) Prolly even do a little unconscious code switching. It’s actually a pretty natural thing for humans to do.

I always say pee-can cuz that’s how my mom said it. Pee-can pahh.
