Coyote hunting

There’s a lot of good options out there but are you going to be standing while calling with thermal optics or sitting primarily? They make some great inverted tripods for standing. RRS, two vets, manfrotto all make quality tripods. I have a Revic hunter tripod with a two vets ball head that I love to sit and shoot from

I been liking the Leofoto SA-363 with a RRS Anvil 30 on top is a pretty sweet combo can shoot standing up easily and I am 5’ 11” and it’s really stable.

Very best coyote tripod is the thermal hunting warrior or commander with chief leveling base. Not a backpacking tripod at all, but nothing better for night stands.

Leofoto SO series if you aren't worried about packing it too far. Long inverted legs. Keeps the dirt out of the leg locking mechanism

Appreciate the shoutout! Hard to beat this setup for coyote hunting at that price point.

if a tripod is used while sitting on a low stool (12 inches) with elbows rested on your legs you can massively increase stability. You can do the same with a tall bipod as well. Watch how Field Target users use bipods.

Which model RRS is typically recommended ?
I'm looking into the tfct 24L since I'm tired of lugging around my fat boy

I prefer the 3 series for the added stability and still being a lot lighter than the Fatboy. 24L would be a great choice if you want to cut more weight, you're just going to give up some stability.

Do you find it necessary to jump up to the 34L or is the 33 & 34 sufficient for coyote purposes ?
I'm 5'10 for reference

You’re not going to give up any stability in the “2” series vs the “3”. Either one will be way more than sturdy enough to shoot off of unless we are talking 30lb+ setups. With the long version of each series you’ll most likely never have the bottom section extended, which is obviously the least stable leg section.

Get an RRS and quit giving money to all the Chinese models that do nothing but ripoff American tech.

I’ll also echo what was said above, if sitting get a bipod. When coyotes come in from a direction you’re not expecting, maneuvering with a tripod isn’t ideal.

33 and 34 should be more than enough. You can double check by measuring the height you set your existing tripod to and checking that against the max height of the 33 and 34.
