Thinking of getting my wife some boots that she can wear around town in the winter that will look nice. Was thinking some harness style cowboy boots.

Cowboy boots might not be the best bet for that, since they are leather and don't have the grippiest soles for snow? I don't know, I've never had them.

Other ideas?

Thanks!

Cowboy style boots suck in town in the snow. They’re too slippery. Certainly you could get something like a pair of ropers with a textured sole, but that’d offer better traction to a degree. That said, a pair of some type of rubber bottomed leather upper pull on insulated snow boot for around town should fit the bill.

Bought me a brand new pair of Dan Wessons distressed leather boots in OK, came home to california got off the plane it was raining.
I slid down two flights of ramps all the way to the luggage area, good thing I snowboarded a lot.
Not good for the wet and sloshy use.

Well if you're looking for a cowboy/ Western style boots for her and concerned about grip. Maybe look into Western "work boots". They have lugs on the sole for grip. And can be worn all year long. Ariat is a good brand.

But if she wants snow boots, I would get her Sorels or LL beans..

get insulated cowboy boots cause a single layer of leather gets cold.

if you are going to ride dont get the thickest sole. they tend to be hard to get in a stirrup. there are plenty made with a rubber or synthetic sole.
