big lake.jpg

Yesterday I walked the couple miles down our gravel road to look for deer sheds along Lake Superior. As I sat on the shore I was reminded of the fact that the lake has no idea what's going on with the virus, it looks the same as always, that big piece of water tends to keep a person grounded.
I got to thinking I am lucky to live on 40 acres in canoe country, my wife is teaching from home, I have some work in my shop and although my 3 kids are all 1000+ miles away they are happy and thus far healthy, I feel blessed. This is a great time to pause, and take a look at what you DO have.

Great idea, I do it everyday.

I wish I could like this, 10 times. Amen! Beautiful pic. Love the great lakes.

I was thinking about what a fragile gift our health is. That's what is important right now.

If 1 person gets sick, it affects a whole family. We had a health scare over Christmas and it was no fun. Had folks in 4 states pulling their hair out. Prayers for the sick and their families.

Agreed! I'm a small business owner and am taking it on the chin professionally right now. However, when I go home my little girl and wife are all smiles. I feel blessed every time I walk through my front door. Panic/Fear doesn't have to be our new normal if we just pay attention to the wonderful things that haven't changed.

Excellent post. I watched two gobblers fighting in the front yard yesterday, it was a 60 minute knock down, drag out....they had no idea what the hell was going on in the world beyond their breeding rights.

It's easy for us to get preoccupied with the silly stuff in life. Definitely time for reflection.

No matter where this ends up, if you have your family and your health, everything has worked out well. Because the rest of it is just “stuff”. Stuff can be made again, bought again, savored again, etc.... So, what’s important is being able to cherish the things in life that isn’t just stuff.

Yep, and the elk will still be rutting this September regardless what is going on down here. (y)

It is always good to count your blessings but, leaving out the possibility of death or other effects from having kung flu for someone and their loved ones, some people will be hit much harder by the effects of this than others....

Hope everyone can find a way to keep their chins up and move forward.
