I would like to clarify all the specs on the Core4Element Elevation jacket with Downtek Down. Hopefully this will help with all the questions in this thread.
The Downtek that was tested in the video with the down in the Bottle shaken with water is a 650 fill Downtek Canadian down. That is what was tested not what is going into the production jacket.
The Jacket that was tested in the video was a first run sample. We wanted to see how the down reacted in an actual garment and not just loose in a bottle.
We were interested in the weight retention specifically.
Note: The jacket did not have zipper pulls on it.
Dry weight - 13.4 ounces
30 seconds of direct shot in shower - 14.4 ounces
30 seconds completely submersed in water - 20.8 ounces
What the production jacket specs are:
Fabric made by Action Sports Fabric - ASF
http://asfgroup.com/
exterior fabric -Down proof 20dX20d Microfiber Ripstop 100% polyester
ASF eclipse DWR exceeds 80/20 in industry standards testing. This means after 80% effectiveness after 20 launderings.
Downtek
http://down-tek.com/home/ Canadian Down 700 fill
7.25 ounces of down
I am not going to guess on total jacket weight until we have final production and can weigh it myself.
I would encourage all of you to compare and do background research on all this. We are by no means using inferior fabrics. Question with boldness and research what you are told.
We are by no means a "Kia".
FYI we are also doing a lightweight jacket Called the Summit jacket. It is insulated with PrimaLoft One insulation and is body mapped for optimum performance.
