About to purchase an element set, pants and jacket. I hunt sept elk in mountains and deer in a stand from sept to nov in WI. Will be doing a sept moose hunt in AK. Anybody see any reason I should reconsider? It seems this would cover most of the temp ranges, kind of middle of the road?

I have the element jacket and switchback pants. I don't think you can go wrong, they should do what you need them too. I did get warm in Sept with the element jacket, but was nice in the mornings. I definitely did not hike around in it in September with it being 50-60* during the day.

I just had them out over thanksgiving and I wore a merino base layer underneath the jacket and switchbacks, I was wishing I had a burlier pant for the cold. I think the element pants would have been better in that situation.

I have the element pants and I don't use them for my sept archery hunts in colorado. I think I would be too warm, even with the leg zips. I have used them during late season hunts with merino layers and they work good for the colder temps. For September, I use a light pant with a merino layer if needed. Much easier for me to regulate temperature that way. This year I used the Eddie Bauer guide pants and they held up great. They will be my sept pant from now on.

I have a bunch of Core 4. Pretty good overall. I shredded the lightweight pants in the blowdowns elk hunting. I would suggest KUIU for pants. Tops are fine.

The element pants are too heavy for September in Colorado. I have them, but never wear them. The switchback pants are my "go to" pants.

I wear my elements all year long and yes they are warm during the early season. I would recommend going with the high line pant they are a mid weight pant that should hold up better but not be to hot

I have the switchback, high line, and element pants. I really like the bigger deeper pockets on the high line. I have ran the switchbacks clear into November with merino underneath. I wouldn't use the element pants until it is below freezing constant. I have had great durability from all of my C4E stuff.

I have moved away from the soft shell jackets. I have the assault shirt, a kelvin light vest, and a hard shell jacket over that. Lighter than packing the soft shell jacket and more compact.
