Would it be possible to convert a Coleman folding over into a wood burning stove for hot tent use?

It has several good things going for it already: flat pack with pop-up type assembly, big enough (12" cube), large door built-in, thermometer on door that can be popped off and replaced with an adjustable air intake vent.

(NOTE: not my pics)

It does have the hinges and kinda long gaps along the edges of the cube though. I dunno if those would be addressable...

It would be neat to get one to work :)

Dunno about weight but it ain't made of Ti... :D

I got gifted one a couple of months ago and converting it was the first thing that I thought of.

I guess one ought to just try.

Be very careful here fellas. If its Tin or other metals besides Titanium or Stainless you run to risk of releasing some seriously nasty fumes. Be sure you know what type of metal it is before wasting your time converting this.

Its original intent was to be an oven, right? What was the intended heat source? I agree with SHTF about using caution.

If it is galvanized then I believe you can also soak it in vinegar to remove the zinc. Their website says "aluminized steel", whatever that is supposed to be.

The thing is supposed to be used right on a propane two burner stove so it supposed to be able to take heat - at the bottom at least.

Yeah, burn coating off would be a good idea. It looks like they have been made of different materials in the past.

Hmm i just happen to have one of those what a great idea.

Try it please! Burn yours before mine! ;)

I'm not able to play with until next month anyway...
