Considering a move to Colorado, looking for area suggestions

Keep in mind that if you live along the Front Range you will face terrible traffic on weekends when you head out of the urban interface (and back into) for the West Slope (mountain) areas. If you live on the West Slope to start with (i.e., within 2 hrs of Denver), you wouldn't have this issue. Residents of Colorado recreate outdoors more than any other state and traffic into and out of Denver can be one long parking lot on weekends.

Yep, we call it the Hwy 285 summer RV and Boat show, Friday afternoon and Sunday afternoon are tHe worst. Along with the major Holidays in the summer. Craig

A few years ago we were coming back from Carbondale on a Sunday afternoon and had to pick up my daughter in Sedalia. I said I wanted nothing to do with that I-70 fiasco coming into Denver so cut off at Frisco and took 285 in. My goodness.......everybody else in the state must have had the same idea. Never again.

You missed out on half of the 285 parade. It starts in Salida and BV. Summer and fall I sit in my camper west of Antero reservoir and watch the uninterrupted river of traffic Fridays from 2-10 pm, and Sundays til 8 pm. "You don't have to live like a refugee," Tom Petty.

I went over Kenosha Pass the morning of Sept 16th this past fall.

What a mess.
It took almost 2 hours of stop and go to get over from Fairplay because of all the 'aspen looky loos' and Subarus
