Consensus on 156 Berger’s?

I like Berger bullets and don’t ever see myself switching to anything different. The 156’s performed great on a mule deer buck i shot last year

I've got the 156's going 2723fps in a 22" Proof 6.5 CM barrel. The savage 110 ultralite has a very long magazine which is allowing me run these at a very long coal. 2.930" if I remember correct.

The data for the 156's success is overwhelming at this point, but I figured I would still add another experience. Shot this aoudad right through top of the shoulder and dumped him. Massive internal bleeding and damage - sorry, didn't get pictures. No exit. Impact velocity 2735 fps.

Keep the data coming! Awesome video also. What cartridge/setup are you shooting? Gun barely budged at the shot.

6.5 PRC in a short action with N565 and Lapua brass. XLR Element, Lone Peak steel split rail, 24” Benchmark carbon, SRS Ti 5 port, NX8 2.5-20 SFP. I prefer hunting suppressed, but it’s extremely tame with the brake.

Sounds like a really nice setup dude. Thank you for sharing! Yeah the SRS muzzle brakes work insanely well.

At what speeds would a guy be better off to drop to the 140 Elites? Is there a trade off at some point? Is the 140 going 3100 going to upset better then say a 156 going 2800? Just curious

I only saw about a 120-150fps difference between the 140’s and 156’s. I think it’s mostly a wash until you get out to very long distances. I would just pick whatever shoots better. Plenty of great terminal performance info for each bullet to be confident hunting with either one.

Due to the difference in BC between the 2, you need the 140s to be going roughly 200fps faster than the 156s to equal the same effective distance. Those are rough numbers I ran a few months ago on Strelok Pro.
