Looking to buy a compact (~50-60mm) spotting scope. Especially interested in the new Kowa 55a, Swaro ATC, Opticron MM4 60, and Nikon ED50 with the fixed wide angle eyepieces. Angled preferred, but open to considering straight scopes at the right price. Will pay with Paypal G&S, and happy to call/FT before sale. Located in Minnesota.

I have a Kowa 55s I bought August 2024 in great condition for sale for $1800. Only used some on my mule deer hunt that year but don't have a need for it anymore because I upgraded to the 88. If you're interested I can give you more info/pics

I have Pentax PF65 ED II for sale if you are interested:

Going to hold off for now and see if any angled ones are available, thank you!

Not currently looking at the Pentax but that's a great deal, best of luck with the sale

Not sure what your usage is but I much prefer straight body for the small spotters. I find that it can be harder to find what you are looking at with the smaller field of view. I have owned straight and angled in both the Nikon ED50 and the razor 50mm and found I didn’t like angled in either one of them. I tired pretty much every eyepiece for the Nikon including the fixed WA models and currently own an ED50 straight with the MC-II 13-40x eyepiece and find that is the absolute best of the bunch. I personally can’t see any reason to spend any more money than that little guy if small and compact is the goal. Then again, I am a cheap bastard with a wife and 2 expensive teen age daughters! Still want to try one of the Athlon 15-45x65 or the same in Maven.

To clarify, I like straight so I can look over the top to find what I am looking at. I hunt back country in Oregon which means a lot of burns and those hillsides can all look the same and makes finding critters really difficult, especially blacktail. Plus I generally get up on a high point so glassing across or down so I found I was straining my neck with angled spotters on top of struggling to pinpoint the spot I was looking at.
