Just found out we went 0/3 on the same mule deer hunt that we drew 2/2 last year. Last year we had 0 preference points.

Just got awarded Deer as my second choice. Unit 18 (includes 27, 28, 37, 181, 371). Gonna be my first time hunting CO so pretty clueless.

A lot of deadfall in those units. 18 had a huge fire in 2020.

Thanks for the tip on the deadfall. I knew there was a fire, but wasn't sure how much the area had recovered/regenerated. Worst case, I can jump to 28 or another unit on the same license if I have the time.

Hate to break it to you but 28 has tons of beetle kill and deadfall too. Just expect it in that region and make the best of it.

I applied for each of us (myself and two youth sons) individually. We figured one was as good as three but will have to fall back on elk.

It’s gonna get turned back in, or turned down a guess. Anyone familiar with that process? Per the regs it’s a new option this year.
