Colorado Success not without emotional distress (also kudus to Iron Will )

So my buddy and I were fortunate enough to take two bulls in colorado. I just want to say how happy i am with the Iron Will Broadheads. I made a bad shot. No doubt about it. This was the worst week of shooting I have ever had. Im chopping it up to buck fever and panic....I made the mistake at not stopping my Bull, when i released it went into the rear of hamstring but luckily for me he whirled away from me and the arrow went through the rear of ham and all the way up into its center cavity. Appeared to get liver but not lungs. Good news was we had a tremendous blood trail from hitting the Femoral Artery. I thought it was lung blood because i didnt see the hit. initally i thought he was a dead bull walking. Looked like bubbles in the blood. Blood trail was massive, only til i tracked him 50 yards and came over this burm he was sitting there looking at me at 5 yards and i tried to get a second shot in him he took off and i missed. We gave him another half hour and he only went another 50-60 yards. He was done but i had to put another one in him. Distressing to say the least. I understand it happens but its no less traumatic. Lots of lessons learned...i hope.

Good news is my buddy made a perfect shot and double lunged his with a Hypo and it only went 75 yards. We are blessed (and a little lucky in my case as well) to say the least. Good luck to all those out there.

For the record i was shooting 60 lbs Energy 35 with a Black eagle rampage 350 and a 100 grain Iron Will (425gr total).

Two bulls in Colorado sounds awesome. Congrats on finding your stress.... it was tough this year with the heat and any success was earned.

ANY elk with a bow is a trophy. Congrats. Admitting your mistake and learning from it will make you a better hunter.

Congrats on the bulls, I felt the same pain this year. I shot mine and the arrow didn't pass through and plugged up the hole. I didn't have any blood trail and finally found him after about three or so hours of searching. It was the most frustrating day ever. Good job sticking with it. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

Talk about highs and lows. For me there is no worse feeling than failing to quickly dispatch an animal. I have had to cut more than one throat and it sucks, bad.

Congrats on a great hunt.
