Colorado SB 25-003 gun ban defunds wildlife programs

I followed this bill closely and did a lot of emailing legislators and informing those in my community. Very sad to see this was passed - most disappointing is CPW getting dragged into it. Is it even possible for this to get tied up in litigation before being implemented in 2026 to halt its implementation?
Disclaimer I am not a lawyer, however my understanding is it will be tied up in litigation for many years, long after 2026. However that litigation may not pause implementation, depending on the outcomes of those court cases.

Not sure if anyone will have any standing to sue until someone gets arbitrarily denied the permit or at least we hit the implementation date.

That said, the Boulder BS from a few years ago that spread like a cancer around this area is still stuck in courts with no end in sight one way or the other. At least that one got an injunction.

I think the only way to force their hand on this outside of court is to get enough people to go do the course and make the fees hit the tabor new enterprise limit that requires a vote. ~333,000 people get the permit within 5 years and it hits the limit based on currently proposed fees. But I have no doubt they thought about that and will make sure that many seats in the training classes are not available in the first 5 years. Defacto ban via limited seats and sessions.

From what I’ve seen, this bill actually had significant opposition on both sides, yet our legislators still jammed it through. Talk about representing the will of the people…
Dang. Starting to turn in to NY out there. Honestly that doesn't surprise me though. When I was out there last year most people were decent when I was hiking in. The only negative comments about hunting i got was from a group of lesbians.

Not turning, we now have some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country going into effect. We’re unfortunately already there. Really sad to see an amazing place being ruined

I believe we have outpaced NY and CA as of this session. Attacks on constitutional rights such as firearm ownership and free speech. The anti-gun zealots don’t care about wildlife, any more than they care about the constitutional freedoms of their fellow citizens.

What I find crazy is watching a base of people who believe there is progression towards an authoritarian state continue to push for disarming themselves. Don’t get me wrong, I fall on the liberal side of things but you damn sure ain’t gonna find me supporting limiting my right to own a semiautomatic firearm. If you truly believe things are becoming more authoritarian, you would be or should be arming yourself. It makes 0 logical sense that people can both be crying out about authoritarianism and choosing to disarm themselves at the same time. What a shame.

So this is actually the sentiments I’ve heard / read from many self proclaimed leftists in CO, but like I mentioned earlier, the legislators and polis still rammed it through.

Michael Bloomberg helped fund this and similar bills in other states, the speculation is that Polis is eyeing a presidential run at some point and Bloomberg is their top donor. Moron doesn’t even realize he just killed any aspirations he had of the Oval Office and screwed us all in the process.

Gosh, who could of thought voting (twice) for a self proclaimed "libertarian" (that just banned guns...) worth over $500 million would go bad. These are the same people protesting oligarchs/authoritarians/fascists/whatever that can't see past what the media tells them to think. They all moved to CO.

I will say as unfortunate as this is, this may be the common ground with the non-consumptive outdoor community that we have needed. Imo this is where polis screwed up. Even cuomo was smart enough to target solely the 2a community. However being new to the western hunting game and a nonresident I'm not sure what organization should spearhead both the fight against your politicians but as well as the liason with the non-consumptive users.
