this year I had a 36% chance of drawing my go to unit 21/30 archery deer tag. Of course I didn't draw so it put my Colorado 3 year hunt plan out the window. So now i am stuck with points I don't want. I have done huge amounts of homework in 21/30 anticipating this tag and have deer picked out I would be pursuing. Now either I purchase a 3500.00 landowner tag and continue, or go find a different buck in a unit that has a cheaper landowner tag price and still has the quality Im wanting. So far I don't know what is going to be cheaper, I have been in to the high country and antler growth is well behind other places in the state. I don't thingk the deer are fully moved up to there summer grounds yet. All I know is what I learned from the famous Jason Carter, is find a big buck and pursue just that big buck. Of course have bucks 1-5+- picked out as runner ups. But find the buck that fits your standards and hunt him till you kill him. I have implemented this in my hunting and it works, and as you can tell it works for ol' J.C.! As Robby said 1k in colorado is a good investment, the first part of a colorado trophy is getting the tag first!

Well, scouting from Michigan will be tough. It would be a lot smarter to snag one of those landowner tags in a few different units and figure things out better before I cut loose with those points.

Good thread, I dont have any points, but kinda heading down the same road. The whitetail mania in the midwest has gotten to the point, I am slowly loosing intrest in it. I have a plan for a DIY archery hunt for 2014.

I'm kinda in the same boat... 8 deer points and I'm not sure what to do with them. My plan is to cash them in next season... Good luck with your decision. Ed F
