I have 7 points for deer in Colorado. I started hunting mule deer in Montana years ago and just never got around to Colorado. I need to correct that. My Montana area is changing and likely won't last.

I have looked at some outfitters, especially on the plains, but don't relish $10,000 plus for a deer. I have found one or two trespass fee situations (one for muley and one for whitetail), but need more research to verify they are what they say they are. These are still near 4 to 5 thousand with voucher and access to private land.

Another angle is to see if my points are enough to possibly split with someone with access and help them attain a tag sooner. I would prefer they had private access as it eliminates any fear I'd "steal" someone's area. Does this have any value to another hunter?

My minimum expectation on a buck is 160 inches. I come home empty from Montana with tag soup sometimes. I'm okay with that.

Any constructive input or suggestions on an outfitter are welcome and feel free to pm as needed. I'm not trying to be the guy who asks for favors and offers nothing in return. I will try to contribute more than I take to any hunt or partnership.

Do a little more research and really see where you can draw with only 7 points. The creep in Colorado is getting bad with lots of guys burning points ahead of the 2028 drawing changes.

I would also call those outfitters/trespass hints for more info. You mention the trespass included a voucher which means you don’t need your points.

You can achieve either in ANY unit that takes the points you have. Even zero point units. The likelihood of being on the successful side tips greatly the more time you put into the hunt code in person. I think the PY non typical velvet record is off of a low-no point hunt code...
