Colorado DIY elk hunting advice for armature hunter

Hello,

i am looking for some advice for my upcoming DIY hunting in Colorado. it will be OTC 3rd rifle season in unit 6 I have hunted archery unit once but not to familiar with unit . does anyone know how the weather is during this time? Any must haves i should bring? i am still debating whether to camp at the truck or backpack in (i have a tent and stove). I am still learning a lot and would appreciate any advice! Thanks!

I am also an FNG so take this with a grain of salt...

Definitely plan on camping at the truck. You can explore much more ground that way.

But bring gear to spike out a night or two if you find sign that justifies it.
