I used to go and shoot the extrerme range at 5:00 AM or so, then the rest of that day was for BSi'ng with old and new friends. There certainly used to be some great targets at extreme angles below cliffs, etc.

Last one I was at was 2009. I missed one (Ft Carson) between '09 and the first one (ranch by Kremmling) we had back in the late 1970's....Besides the present location South of Leadville and the Kremmling ranch for the first couple I recall going to Camp Hale for years and to one (or two?) down around the Great Sand Dunes. Seems there were other sites but don't recall them.

Our jamborees always had lots of shooters. Maybe y'all don't do that out there.

There's no prizes or trophy or anything to "compete" for on the archery ranges unless you can scrap together a side hustle.

The CBA Jamboree used to be cool when vendors went, now the higighy is the tamale truck.

We just finished up 2.5 days of great shooting, family fun, elk calling contests and a visit to the tamale truck(y)
The 5 3D ranges were great with some very realistic hunting shots.
I wouldn’t compare it to TAC or MAF, it’s just a well run 3D. Camping was good and not so crowded despite there being 300-500 there.

Courses, yes.

I didn't think you competed in tac either.

I go to 3d to compete.

It can be fun to just go shoot 3d, but I have gone thru dozens of arrows. We used to do bs shooting, trying to see if you can make it over or under, next to trees and branches. Had a target set at 375 yards for a summer. It's a good way to learn what your setup can do, at this point I just like to compete.

Maybe I'm an outlier.

The downside to people waiting in line to shoot is it's hard to do the challenging, dangerous to some minds, thread the needle type shots without getting a chastising by the powers that be.
