Colorado 3rd rifle season

If you mean getting into elk, yep, doing fantastic. If you mean finding a bull with enough antler on his head to make him legal, then I'm lacking a little bit. Got the day off tomorrow, then I'll be up again this weekend and hopefully find a legal bull.

We’re here now. Between the three of us we have seen over 300 elk but only 4 legal bulls and one of our guys missed yesterday. Planning on hunting until Friday so we’ll see how it goes.

Saw 5 legal bulls the day before opener, helped two folks tag out on bulls Saturday, and couldn't get on the gun quick enough yesterday morning to seal the deal on a bull for myself. I have a trip outside of CO for a few days and will miss the rest of the season unfortunately. Got into fresh sign every day, only went one day without laying eyes on elk. Saw quite a few elk total, would guess in the mid-hundreds. I heard lots of complaints from other hunters about a lack of animals, but I also heard quite a few gunshots.

We've gone high, low, mid all week here around Pagosa ... Seen a few cows, no bulls, tons of deer. We're all tagged out on bucks, but just cannot seem to get into the elk this year. Very frustrating not even seeing sign.

G'luck to all!

Anyone have any hot tips on cows in unit 28/37? Just looking for some meat. Have a spot where we saw a few but wondering how where the herds of 300 are would be quite a sight.

Here now. It’s been pretty tough since Monday. I finally got into some fresh sign today, but no sightings yet. Plenty of mule deer.

I’ve been helping a friend try and get his first elk. We got into some around 11,000 feet after putting in some hard miles and big climbs. We’re going back in for a bivy Hunt in a couple of days.

Tagged a cow elk down in hell hole in 61, it’s where they were so that is where we had to go. We saw elk every day and could have killed numerous smaller bulls.

Been here since Sunday. Saw a bunch of cows, but no bulls yet. Went into a new area with some fresh sign so hopefully will find one soon. Black bear and plenty of mule deer as well.
