This is when the bullet chemically bonds to the inside of the neck of the cartridge case. It is a real thing, not voodoo at all .
I have seen this happen in as little as a year, tried graphite, not cleaning the inside of the neck etc and now just leave them seated long until I need them.
It can drive pressures up and the tell tale sign is the " pop" you hear breaking the seal with the seating die
Anyways, thought I would put this up for discussion.Cheers

I do the same thing now when I know I want be shooting my loads right away. .005" long then seat them down before heading out to the range.

I don’t clean the inside of my necks and don’t worry- but I’ve got some year old 7mm08 I might touch with the press to see if they go “pop”

About 5 years ago I decided to pull bullets on some old, old 264 Magnum loads from the late 70's. I didn't load them, an old friend that was kind of a mentor gave them to me. Anyway, on over 1/2 the cases, (200) the neck completely separated from the case! You figure it out!

I just shot up some 4 year old ammp at varmints and it shot all over.

new stuff to the same specs shoots fine.

I often wondered about old factory crimped ammo.
