Coffee Substitute

I packed in about a dozen mini moos last year, and they all burst open in the ziplock bag from the altitude pressure change.

Lol, that suuucks.. I bet you cranky without your sugar fix!

I almost packed some in this past trip.. Glad I didn't!

Lol, that suuucks.. I bet you cranky without your sugar fix!

I don't even use sugar, I use that cancer-causing agent called "Sweet n Low". In addition to my long term bacon/cancer study, I'm also in a long term study with the Sweet n Low.:D

I don't need the sweetener or cream while I'm in the back country, but the SnL is easy to pack, and keeping it doesn't skew my study.

My Grandpa taught me two life lessons. One was to learn to drink black coffee. Otherwise, "You'll spend half of the rest of your life wandering aimlessly about looking for cream and sugar." Every once in a rare while I'll get desperate and steal some coffee out of a friends thermos loaded with cream and sugar. Nasty nasty stuff!

The other was to throw in a handful of chocolate chips into the morning oatmeal. Yum!

The last thing I do before climbing into a tent is get my Jetboil coffee press set up and ready to roll. In the morning I usually don't climb out of the sleeping bag until I've got my coffee mug filled. I also brew a cup whenever I'm at a water source. So yea, there is no substitute!!
