I know nothing more than what I have read on the internet.
I am looking for anyone with first hand knowledge of rifle coating options. (Dipped, cerakote etc)
Thanks

Durability, how it holds up, looks, ability-to clean. Just about any information you can share.
My new rifle build is around $3700 and I’m thinking of coating the stock only. I don’t want to screw it up by going the wrong way

You can’t go wrong with cerakote on a nice custom imo as long as you have a good smith do it there’s a couple on here that do amazing work I had mike at hells canyon armory build my last custom and he cerakoted it for me and It’s beautiful it will scratch a bit and obviously some colors show them more than others but you don’t have to worry about rust and don’t have to baby it while out hunting with it.

What stock? What’s your gunmaker say?

I have several cerakoted pistols. I love it. The only scratch is on a 1911 where the safety has moved back and forth. I've carried it in a holster through brush for bays on end.

The stock is a McMillan game hunter edge tech, and my gun builder just has his opinion on coating, not his personal experience.

ive tried a few coatings. bottom line is that they all wear over time. there is no magic do it all coating but a few good ones.only a few will work on moving parts like the bolt and internals especially springs and small screws. for me rustproofing is important and have been happy with the Black "t" Ultra finish part gets treated.https://black-t.com/our-price-list/ since the metal is treated below the surface even in wear points from rubbing i dont have rust or have to oil. only comes in a few colors but the black is what i had done.takes a few2-3 months is my only complaint but a great company and was worth waiting for me.
