CO UNIT 81 LOST HUNTERS

Can find all sorts of other info on facebook, but two 25 year old buddies have been missing from Rio de los Pinos trail in unit 81, north of Chama, NM, for 6 days now. Anyone in the area keep a lookout. Was up there for 2 days helping the search, they haven't found anything yet. We had over 50 people, helicopters, dogs, horses, and drones in that basin. The hunters are likely just with minimal day hunting gear and have been exposed to wet and freezing weather for several nights now.

Tragic. As I sit in a NM unit looking north into those mountains of 80-81, I can’t help but to have those young men on my mind. I’ve hunted that area and seen nasty weather in September. I can’t even imagine the horror and helplessness those men felt. The first time I felt lost in 2009 was in those mountains. I had a gps next time I went. The pink hue over those mountains from where I’m sitting looks so peaceful. May God take care of them and their families.

Absolutely heart breaking! Happy, young, youthful men. Thick clouds, fog, sleet and rain, slick soil, can happen too fast, The Mountains make their own weather.

Hunting the mountains takes everything about survival and preparedness to another level. Special Prayers to their families. Special thanks to all the citizens of Colorado and the New Mexico citizens, Colorado Search and Rescue Teams, and all that mobilized to help find them and to support the search Teams

On any trip out, it could very easily be potentially one of us. Depending on when and where it happens , all it takes is one slip on a log or a rock.
