CO Old OTC units that went to Draw - Noticeable Difference?

It is BS to convert archery OTC tags to limited and sell most of the tags to NR like they did in units 70,71,72,73,74,75,77,80 and 81.

Dude….
I know your not an idiot…..
But….
And I want to be CRYSTAL clear….

You do realize that the reason that those tags went to NR’s was because the RESIDENTS DIDN'T WANT those “$hit” tags as a first choice!!!! Hell, a lot of residents didn’t even want them as a second choice!!!!! Good god I wish you people would get this through your thick skulls!!!!

Yet, here you are, bitching, as usual,
about the NR greed. Freaking spare me.

You are absolutely wrong.
I personally know 2 groups of residents who want those tags and haven't gotten them in 2 years. The year before that some were lucky and bought them on the reissue list.

I have also met other resident hunters who moved into another OTC unit because of this BS.

You are so full of $hit. Your serpent tongue has been on various forums going after NR hunters and those $hit tags (that you all didn’t want as a first or second choice for years). To be honest, you’re beyond pathetic even complaining about it. You’re the BuzzH of Colorado.

Here is a notable and intelligent idea……IF YOU WANT THE TAG, APPLY FOR THEM AS A FIRST CHOICE.

I KNOW why you want to end OTC. To limit the competition for a tag you want.

Some NR don't plan to hunt here until they can swoop in and hunt only the best units.

Some who want to end OTC get their tags as Landowners, PLO or some other way so they can build points for prime limited tags.

I guess some just know any better.

Every time I hear or read someone calling for the end of OTC I'm saying NO.

As soon as they make R/NR second choices 75%/25% we can talk about ending OTC. It's currently planned for 2028.

End otc to stop the competition for the tag I want???? How would that fix anything lol soooo im competing with otc tags do the tag I want?

I bet ur one of the guys that says he will pay $2000/tag as a resident so you dont havent pressure. You dont understand the statistics and thats obvious now, every unit you sent me had less than 25% residents apply and even less on 2nd choice. The residents dont want them so give them to non residents. Why not

Absolutely untrue. Residents do want some of them. I personally know of plenty.

I do understand the statics.
With the 2028 planned changes the tag split would be as follows with the 2025 application numbers:
EM070O1A R/NR would be 59%/41% instead of 25%/75%.
Residents get 240/407 instead of 102/407. (407=415-8 youth licenses)
NR would still get 167 of the 407 tags (41%) at current numbers.
The other ~10 units are similar.

I never said I wanted to make hunting a rich man's game.

I will say again:
As soon as they make R/NR second choices 75%/25% we can talk about ending OTC. It's currently planned for 2028.
Until then, ABSOLUTELY NOT.

It’s currently at 75/25 lol for tags less than 6PP, for primary draws. I really don’t think you understand it at all and just want to stomp your feet for resident only thinking it will help you chances of being successful. If you aren’t successful hunting you obviously need to change your tactics cause they suck.

Again OF THERE ARENT EBOUGH RESIDENTS APPLYING FOR THE TAG THEN TAG ALLOTMENTS ARE VOIDED!!!!!! Obviously there ARENT ENOUGH RESIDENTS APPLYING SO NON RESIDENTS GET MORE TAGS. Stick to your day job cause tag allotments and statistics isn’t your strong suit

I'm ColoradoV, I think that all units that are now OTC show be limited draw, regardless of the method of hunting. I know CPU would have to raise the price of all licenses/tags to make up for the lost NR fees that are paid now. But I would be willing to pay more to see less hunters in the field when I hunt. I refuse to hunt 2nd & 3rd rifle seasons because it's like an orange army is in the field. I gave up muzzleloading hunting here in Colorado because of the high number of archery hunters hunting at the same time. (I really hate hunting with full camo hunters and orange clad hunters in the feild at the same time).
There are already plenty of opportunities in the west to pay more and see less. Do you really think your personal opportunities are going to increase by taking away otc hunts? More hunters after limited tags is going to reduce odds for all hunts. Let the guys who want to work for it have the opportunities.

It has nothing to do with my opportunities, it has to do with the number of hunters in a given area. Have you ever hunter here in Colorado during an OTC hunt? I have as I live in a very popular area. I only hunt 1st or 4th season. I know the number of hunters who could be there because there are limited tags available. Colorado used to have a single season for hunting units. It became so crowded that they created split seasons.
