Maybe a silly question for here, but I've got an archery muley tag that I've yet to fill this year. I am headed out for the last 3 days of the season and hoping to increase my chances by asking for some help... I've seen some deer in the unit, so I know they are there. Most encounters have been in dark timber and were spotted on my way up the mountain well below tree line, a couple stalk situations that didn't pan out into a shot.
I'm really just looking for some meat for the freezer at this point, so not worried about trophies or even a buck for that matter. How do most people hunt muleys in the thick stuff? My current plan is to stick to the trails in the early hours of the morning and hope for a stalking opportunity from there, but guessing they are a lot less active during the day- am I better served sitting on a game trail for the daytime hours? Or keep covering ground hoping for more chances? There doesn't seem to be a lot of opportunity for glassing in the areas I've seen deer. This is my first year chasing muleys, and being a whitetail hunter from Iowa originally- the tactics seem to be significantly different.
Any help/tips/advice would be appreciated!
