I was reading the draw recap and surprised to see the number of moose tags jump in 2025. TBH I was expecting wolves to hit the population targets. Does anyone have information on why CPW is increasing tags? Or are the populations across the state just staying so healthy? Its nice to see a state with an increasing population/tag count (for now).

IMO, it is years of not having any natural predators. I believe CPW is also combatting efforts to curb the booming population that is decimating riparian habitats throughout the state. (multiple articles have come out recently addressing this as a concern). I would imagine that the wolf reintroduction will eventually decrease the population, but that will take time. If the wolves even stick around...
