Was hunting Middle/South Central part of the state over the last 4 or 5 days. Elevation around 10,500-12,000. No bugling whatsoever. Saw a 5x5 and he came into my early season calling silent as the grim reaper. Bulls are still in bachelor herds. Rut looks late this year in that part of the state. I did hear that there was some bugling in the north central part of the state over opening weekend. Good luck, stay safe.

Was up at 11,000 feet at Lake Constantine in Holy Cross Wilderness (south of Vail) and heard absolutely no bugling. Didn't see any elk, but wasn't looking for them either. Had a cow moose walk into camp the last morning and almost stepped on my tent.

I heard Bulls bugling 2 weeks ago. I got up on some elk and made the bull bugle with my mouth mimicking a bugle.

Heading home from a 5 day hunt south of New Castle. Heard some buggling but none would really respond to calling. Had an awesome hunt even though I had no shot ops. Good luck.

God Bless.

Was up in that area yesterday heard no bugleing! However had an awesome encounter 30 yards from my tent with a nice bull moose! Holy cow they are big! Definitely gave me motivation to keep putting in for a moose tag! I was just up there setting up camp for my buddy and dad. My brother and I will be up there Monday as well! So hope to not see you in the woods! :) but if I do my name is Craig. Good luck!

They are starting to bugle here in SW CO around 8-9,000'. Not going crazy yet, but bugling none-the-less. I saw a group of 20 or so cows and a pretty nice 5x6, and another group with a decent 6x6 in it this morning.

Bulls were active at daybreak on opening weekend in North Central CO OTC units. Lots of bugling in the first hour of day light and some were responsive midday-all above 11,000'.

Interesting to hear all the reports of no bugling. I was on the phone with a hunt planner a couple days ago who said the rut had started early this year due to weather factors. Even said his friend killed one last week that was screaming all the way into his setup, but that they still should be rutting when we go there on the 12th. I guess it depends on precisely where you're at.

I think they tend to get fired up a little here and there leading up to the peak. Especially with the smaller rag horn bulls. One night I heard a lot of talk, then the next morning and evening nothing.

If they are talking where I hunt, I would think they are talking in CO. Mostly at night, but usually carries over to about 8am.
