Currently running some DIY'd old Lone Wolf sticks. They are 20" step to step, weigh between 1.5 - 1.8lbs.

Any of these new saddle / lightweight companies come out with a 1lb stick that is 20" step to step yet?

Got to check out some of the new Tetred Skeletors ones at a 3D shoot not long ago and they were awesome.
I think just a tad over 4lbs for 4

What's the big deal with 20" as oppposed to 18" or 22" or whatever? Lots of the sticks people like at 1.7-2lb or more each, and often they dont even include the weight of the strap--a cam buckle strap weighs half a pound. A couple of the actually light weight sticks are at or within an inch or two of 20" though.

timberninja c1's are 20". I have a pair that ive been using for 3 or 4 years, I have weighed them and iirc they are 1lb on the nose including the dyneema daisy I use to secure them. Looks like the new ones might be a couple ounces heavier (??) but not sure if thats including strap, or what. Some folks dont like the small amount of flex in the steps on these, but they assured me they wouldnt break and years later...they havent (I'm 195 stark raving nekkid, plus clothes, boots and gear). I really like mine especially becasue they stack without any offset in length, I can carry them horizontally in the load shelf in my pack and keep a really snag-free profile in brush.

Eastern woods outdoors also has a 20" ultralight stick that is about 1lb.

Probably others, its been a while since I've really looked hard.

The Timber Ninja's are sold out... Look like a solid option though! thanks.

To Answer your Question: Well most of the companies came out with a 1lb or sub 1lb stick but the step height is only 16-18". I'm not a tall guy by any means but even I can easily get up a 20" step to step, and that just allows you to get up the additional 6-12" which could be the difference in a good set up vs a great set up. I simply havent upgraded as my DIY'd 20" steps are not worth the upgrade $$ for the weight savings. However, if one of the stick companies come out with a 20" step to step at 1lb that would be worth looking at!

Are you using an aider? Either a 2 or 3-step cord or light web aider on the first step, or a single step on a couple sticks, all add feet to your setup. 6mm nylon cord is light and cheap…. If you find sticks you like and 6-12” is whats holding you back it could be a good option if you arent already doing that.

Timber ninjas available at Meateater store (on sale as well). I use the backwoods aider and it works well. I generally don’t take it way up the tree with me, but it gets your up high with your first stick.
