Lone Wolf Assault Hand Climber.

I'll likely use this stand until the day I die. It would be very hard to perfect that stand. Maybe if they made one out of titanium or something.

Not really sold on that seat on this "new" version.

My Viper is my public land stand of choice.

Never had any interest in swinging from a saddle. You still gotta get up the tree.
Always feel like I'm gonna fall off a lock-on - especially on a crocked tree.
You can keep them climbing sticks - they have shifted on me and i aint going there anymore.
Ladders are easy and comfy.

I sold my Summit Viper long ago. It was dang comfortable, but I was always compromising my positioning with it. I can see the appeal of the climber, but for me I would have to break it out only when I know exactly what tree I'm sitting and won't deviate. I didn't want to be stuck so I figure go out with my hang on and I can move when I want.

I can see how that might be a problem. I hunt in pine timber land in AL and fortunately every tree is the same kind, age and size. And they are ten feet apart. You can pretty much find a tree that gives you the position you want. I keep a couple ladder stands around if I decide to hunt hardwoods. Public vs private is always a challenge for treestand selection and portability as well. .

I still use my Lone Wolf climber quite often. If I'm going to an area I'm familiar with and I know there's some good trees, it's quicker and easier than hanging sticks and a stand.
