I’ve been out of the game for a bit on pre made freeze dried meals since I had a hook up on a friend who has a food industry quality freeze dryer. I would just make my own. Unfortunately they have now moved away and I’m not in a position to buy a good quality freeze dryer.

I know my go to brand Heathers Choice is now out of business so I’m in the dark.

I also did major heavy metal/parasite detox and have dropped a ton of weight and unhealthy visceral fat/junk out of my body. Because of that stuff like fast food, MRE’s and ultra processed foods absolutely wreck me. I would bet low quality freeze dried meals are going to do the same.

Any recommendations on good clean freeze dried meals? I don’t mind paying extra.

Thanks!

Just get a dehydrator and make your own dehydrated meals.

Vacum seal and freeze them until your ready for your trip and you should be go.

Give it a google. There is a TON of information, blogs, and everything else about dehydrating your own meals.

Thanks buddy, I’ll give it a look. I’ve got a dehydrator. I’ve done a lot of Jerky, Pemmican and Fruit over the years but never entrees.

Gastrognome makes delicious meals that aren’t full of junk. They’re pricey, but they’re delicious.

I second dehydrating your own. You control the ingredients and keep things healthy. Shelf life is probably not as long as freeze dried, but like was stated above, after dehydrating, vacuum seal each meal and and freeze them and they will last a few years or more. I make small enough batches that I have never worried about shelf life really. I have been doing this for years, and its so much better than most pre-packaged meals, and you know exactly whats in them.

Care to share anything you dehydrate? Im mostly carnivore so ive been experimenting with eggs, ground beef and sausage.

Stowaway Gourmet, Gastroknome, pinnacle foods, good to go…. A lot of good options these days. Each has their great meals, ok meals, and bad. Just have to figure that out over time although if you liked most of the heathers choice meals, these will be top shelf!

I've also been making my own dehydrated meals for quite some time. One tip, use as low of fat content in any meat you use. Trimmed venison, chicken breast or beef round all work well.

Eggs don’t rehydrate very well. Hamburger works great, cook your meats first, smaller chunks the better. Actually looks like a handful of dirt when it’s done. Sausage is fatty so you want to freeze it after and watch how long it’s out in hot weather so it doesn’t get rancid. I find that it’s 1-1 water to meat to rehydrate. Sauces like pizza and such, I do as a leather then cut it into small pcs before vacuum sealing.
There’s all kinds of ideas out there. Google it.

I think dehydrated food has a fraction of the nutritional value as freeze dried does.

Pinnacle foods ingredient list is short and you can pronounce it all too.
