Just wanted to share. Saves 5.4oz just by swapping magazines. Beautiful? No. Functional? Yes.

Second attempt after the first failed miserably. If you have interest, DIY or prepared reach out.

Posted this custom Tikka/XLR/Unknown Munitions build a few days ago.

7 PRC MDT mag (CIP, 3.85”) —> 6.5 PRC in LA (AICS, 3.56”).

yes I'm also interested in how you modified. more than just a little sanding on the lips? I'm sort of in the same boat looking for mags to run 6.5PRC in an XLR LA tikka...I don't intend to spin on a 7PRC anytime but I might try 7SAUM someday.
only mag I have currently is 5rd metal MDT 300WM 3.56" and I hope it will work for practice but would of course prefer a lighter option for the Mts.

No feed lip modification required. I’ve cycled 50-60 rounds through it and it’s flawless so far. DM me.

Curious if this would work in the MDT core bottom metal that requires you run 3.560 Aics mags. Please let us know your magic.

The new Backlight chassis that is coming out in May for the Tikka will also require this magazine. AFAIK, the MDT metal 3.560” 30-06 mag is the ONLY mag that works in the MDT Tikka LA chassis. At 7.2 oz, It would be nice to have a lighter alternative.

I saw this and was hoping they would make a 3 rnd mag for it. I’ve also been sending a product request twice a week for the past few months.

Following as well, really would like to ditch the heavy mags for 6.5prc on my hnt26

Bought a couple MDT 3 round 7 PRC mags for my XLR Tikka LA. Cut em down, applied some tape, and filled in the gaps with Marine Tex. Not the prettiest however functionally they’ve been fantastic for two seasons. The follower required some messing around. Beats paying someone more than $200 to cut down a magazine.

The one on the right was done first, clearly a lot uglier. IMG_8836.jpegIMG_8837.jpegIMG_8838.jpeg

It looks like you did the follower differently on the second version? Did you trim down the back end instead of cutting out the middle? Have to do anything to the spring or is it small enough?

I did this as well late last year. CIP mag cut down the standard long action for 7RM/300WM (3.715"). I went a hair longer to ~3.735" for a tighter fit in my bottom metal. I used gorilla super glue gel. Came out great.....a week before I got an HNT26 that takes the CIP mag. 😂 My buddy now uses it for his 300WM. Thing feeds like butter compared to metal mags.

Fits up to 3.500" COAL which was perfect for my 7RM hand loads at 3.470". I think my buddy's 300WM handloads are 3.450"
