Thinking of getting a Labradar. I want something easy to set up and accurate. Any pro's or con's (besides price). Other recommendations, thoughts?

Only con I’ve seen is interference or false triggering on a crowded firing line. If you are a few lanes over from anyone it’s never an issue for me.

Cost.
Aiming. Sucks you have to superglue a juicebox straw to a 600 choro. between that and the speed square trick its pretty easy to get aimed now.

I personally don’t like messing about with Labradar’s. I’ve not owned one but been around them enough to know I don’t like them.

I would personally recommend a Magnetospeed on a wiser precision mount. My match rifle has a full length inch and a half dovetail on the fore end and my hunting rifle has a pic rail up front for the bipod. I can attach the wiser precision mount to either and shoot groups while getting velocities.

You basically leave the magneto speed setup on the wiser precision mount all the time and it quick detaches on/off the rifle. Super easy and accurate.

i shot a match last week end and set up the labradar on the bench for each group.
aiming was easy-i use a t- square. but if you just stand back and look through the vee you will get close enough to get muzzle velocity. if you want 100yds velocity you do need to be pretty close to straight at the target.

there were other shooters on the line at the same time i shot and none triggered my unit. i have shot on close crowded lines with others using the LR and none of us have trouble with false triggers with the next shooter.
in st louis i was in the middle of 50 shooters and no problems. never had trouble at riverbend -and benches are very close there.

setting one up is as easy as setting it on the bench and there is no weight on your barrel to interfere so you can leave it on and keep collecting data. data, you can see some unusual and odd things with it, for one you can guess the BC of a bullet and certainly tell if the BC is correct.
want another?
a bullet starts at 3400 mz and reaches 100 at 3100fps
the next bullet starts at 3420 mz and reaches 100 at 3090fps

if you are going to set one on a bench get a base from matt at arcomachine. it folds and fits in the case with the unit.

i must say that if you have many false triggers something is wrong. because i see many units on the line that dont trigger. perhaps as many as 8 on a 30 bench range.. and all guns go off when the commence fire command is given.

I have Labradar and MagnetoSpeed V3 (I had a Sporter for a year, then traded in for the V3). Both have their quirks, both have their strengths. Both are good enough that I like having both.

Do you miss readings if it isn't aimed perfectly? I have done nothing to aid in aiming mine, just give it a quick eyeball through the v slot in the top and fire away. It never misses shots.

@wind gypsy
Miss the muzzle no. Miss reading at 100 yards yes. I may get a reading at muzzle, 1yd, 25yd, 50yd and then miss 75 and 100.

One of the other quirks that irritates me is I can shoot 10 rounds with one gun. then start another group and shoot another 10 with a different gun. for the life of me I can't get it to go back and add 11-20 to the first group. It maybe user error but it always goes to recording on the most current group. The work around is pull the file and combine the spread sheets in excel and rerun the averages. I like to chrono 20 rounds and make sure my POI is right over my POA at 100 before I go verify dope.

Gotcha, that makes sense. I don't typically ever look at velocity past muzzle so I'm probably not tracking the bullet far down range.

100% agree on clocking more rounds on the previous shot strings. I haven't been able to do it with mine but haven't looked into it much either. That would be a good thing to get figured out!

I went ahead and emailed labradar and asked the question to see if we are missing something.

I was just over your way to grab a Labradar from scheels. Haven’t gotten to play much with it yet.

Went the labradar direction to hopefully save money in ammo and components by shooting for speed and groups at the same time.

Labradar was very quick to respond which is impressive right now. Though not what I wanted this is another good work around. SD cards are super cheap and it would probably easy to have 2 or 4 in my bag. I ordered 3 of these which was the amazon limit. Remember 32g or less for the labradar.

From Labradar.
Unfortunately you cannot add shots to previous series, and I do not believe you will be able to from a firmware update, however, there is a workaround for customers who do what you want to. You can use an SD card for each rifle, so each time you insert the SD card you will pick up where you left off.

Also for what its worth I recently picked up a bow and have been messing with that. I went ahead and ordered an archery trigger for my labradar and shot 10 arrows to chrono. The speed entered into ontarget2 gave me perfect sight tapes out to 60 so far. Which honestly is further then I can shoot because I still suck at archery. It was nice to have one of my expensive pieces of gun equipment transfer over to archery. With the archery trigger the labradar didnt have any problems tracking my arrows from the bow to 20 yards.
