Christensen Arms Mesa

Wanted to share my experience with this rifle.
I was convinced by a gun shop to buy and check out the Mesa. I purchased a 7mm Rem Mag. I followed the break in process outlined in the web site.
On this gun I have a Leupold vx5. The new 6-24.
During break in I shot cheap Federal blue ammo in 150 grain. I have to admit that is shot .6 with this setup...pretty impressive.

I then hand loaded 162eldx, in Nosler brass. I use imr 4831 powder.

In my next outing I was shooting .5 moa. We shot out to 600 yards and had no problem ringing the 18 inch gong.

I am very impressed, especially since I was very skeptical.

Excellent Report. Do you feel The weight of the gun with optic is too much or just about right? Do you know the weight of your set up. I want to purchase a CA just cant decide if the ridgeline is worth the 0.3 lbs difference.

Just bought a Ca mesa 6.5cm I've never seen a production rifle group like that with factory ammo. to CA. Sent it off to mesa precision for an altitude stock. All smiles from this guy

Iv got close to the same set up and I’d say it’s a little on the heavy side but still manageable

Thanks for the heads up. I went with a Ridgeline in SA. Its my two pound glass I worry about.

This is good to hear. I picked up a Mesa in 6.5 cm for a really good deal. Used with only 40 rounds through it. I was not in the market for one but felt like the deal was too good. Looking forward to some load testing.

I’ve owned just about every brand of rifle and my CA Mesa in 6.5 PRC is the most accurate rifle I’ve ever owned. I’ve shot the two factory loads through it and my handloads with 139 Scenars and everything groups amazingly through it.

I’ve heard good stuff about this setup. Great choice in the mid tier rifles with top end accuracy

Any idea of the actual weight on the PRC? They are using a short action for the PRC correct?

Motown, The 6.5 PRC MEsa comes in at 6.8. I have heard guys say that they are more in the 7.0 range. The Ridgeline comes in at 6.5 lbs.

Thanks Arch. I know that advertised weight vs actual vary widely sometimes so wasn't sure with the Mesa.

One more question for you CA guys. Im thinking I am going to go with either the Mesa or Ridgeline. I would not be running a rail and would most likely be using talley lightweight lows. I will most likely be using a Tract Toric with a 42mm obj so does anyone know if I would run into bolt or objective clearance issues with this setup?

talley lows cleared march 2.5-25x42 with room to spare

I have the Leupold vx5 44mm, with Talley lows. Clears fine.

I just set up my Ridgeline tonight. I have the high Hawkins Hybrid rings, 56 mm Nightforce and a Seekins rail. The gun comes in at 8 lbs 12 ozs. With my Atlas CAL it’s 9 lbs 12 ozs.

I would look into Hawkins Hybrids instead of Talley’s. They are so nice plus a bubble level built in. You will need the lows for a 42 mm scope.
