just got a new mk4 BAR 3006 . Has anyone had any cycling issues cutting the barrel down to 18.5 on the mk3’s or 4’s? It appears to have the same gas block as the mk3 so I’m assuming I can tune it to get it to reliably cycle

Heck yeah , that’s exactly what I want this for. It was a tough decision .270 or 3006 lolI have a LW Stalker in .270. I had it cut to 16.5” several years ago. I absolutely love it and have killed tons of deer with it. It is a great walking around rifle due to the compactness. If I could find a .308, I would cut it down in a heartbeat.
Thank you !I cut and crowned an MK 3 7mm-08 to 20” a few months back and it cycles perfectly without having to mess with anything.
Main reason is where I hunt is either fields or woods they don’t blend lol so I want a gun for when I’m walking and crawling through brush it can be a little shorter to not get hung up as much and a little quicker to track some running deer/bear . My shots with this would most likely be under 50yds , definitely not past 100. I have a bunch of rifles set up for long(er) distances . Just looking to fill the close range niche . I went 06’ due to from what I have read you typically lose 200fps cutting it down so I should be pretty close to 308 velocity’sI’m curious on why you all want to cut it down. I have considered a BAR for whacking hogs where I hunt. Semi auto sounds fun when there’s a bunch of hogs staring at me. That being said it’s not uncommon to quickly cycle the bolt gun and put a few ear shots where they need to be.
