Do any companies offer chest waders with lifetime warranties? My current pair of LL Bean waders leaks in the neoprene boot somewhere and I'm hesitant to purchase another pair from them since they revised their warranty policy.

I'm not interested in the $800 Sitka Waders :)

It is an unreasonable expectation for companies to offer lifetime warranties for any clothing let alone waders. The best warranties, in my opinion, are going to be Redington, Orvis and Simms, although most companies have decent warranties. I would pick Redington or Orvis since they give more to conservation, but since you're in MT, Simms will be easier.

Patagonia used to have the best warranty there was on waders but I believe they revised their warranty too. The idea of a "lifetime" warranty on waders almost seems ridiculous to me. Sure if a seam comes apart or something I can see a company being willing to work with you but some of the crap people send in for warranty work went beyond ridiculous. and as stated above simms is awesome to work with, plus they flat out make the best waders. granted you pay handsomely for them but they are damn amazing.

I agree lifetime warrantys on depreciable goods does nothing but inflate the price unnecessarily.
A fly rod is good example there is no reason it should be covered for life and no reason it should he 700 bucks....

I agree that it is unreasonable to expect a deprecible product to last a lifetime - 50 years or whatever. However there are so many companies who make cheap crap in China, sell it for a premium price making many times the production cost, and then the product doesn't even last a year or two functioning as it's supposed to. Most of the products I have owned come nowhere near lasting a lifetime.

I have paid $450 for top of the line hunting boots that leak in under a year with no extraordinary use. That's insane.

I would say that I take much better care of the things that I buy than your average person as well. I'm not hard on my equipment and I tend to baby things.

A warranty is always in the back of my mind when making a purchase.

I bought a pair of Orvis chest boot waders back in the early 90's. They have been amazing. They still don't leak, but I have had trouble keeping the felt on the bottom of the boots. That's the only problem I've ever had with them. They've been used throughout Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, BC, and even Iceland. I think they came with a 4-year warranty which I thought was plenty for waders.

There is a company here in oregon that offers pretty much bulletproof waders: Waders - USIA

I dont remember if they offer a lifetime warranty but I have a couple friends that use them (were all die hard waterfowlers). They have put these through blackberries and briars hunting and have no leaks (so far, after 3-4 years of use). The material is tough and these aren't your normal waders.

Buy a pair of Simms and don’t worry about a lifetime warranty. Waders are expendable. Simms makes a great product and they stand behind them. If the waders are faulty they’ll take care of it. If you need them repaired because of punctures or tears they’ll do that too for a modest fee. When they are worn out, throw them away and buy another pair.
