Chest pack for fishing

A friend was looking for a chest pack for surf fishing. It's a pretty basic layout. The front pocket is the durable stretch tweave from lunar concepts. I used 1/4" eva foam to keep the shape. The pocket in the back is designed for a pair of pliers to slide into and out of one-handed. He already has an AGC harness so he can take his bino pack off and put this on.

Edge-binding continues to be the bane of my existence...

Looks awesome man. I find these small projects to be more difficult than the big ones to keep tidy and clean. You nailed it.

That looks awesome! I agree binding sucks, especially with foam or some other stiffener in there. The only way I have been able to get it to look nice is to completely finish 3 side then slide the stiffener in.

I like it. The Fishing chest pack I tried was way to big and in the way. I was wading and fly fishing.

This is a niche that I have been searching for. Make one that I can swap out an AGC or Marsupial harness with and I’d buy one.

This looks great. How wide is it? Is wide enough to hold a bag or two is soft plastics? What buckles are you using?

It ended up about 9" x 6.5" x 3". I made it big enough for a small plastic tackle box, but it would fit a couple of bags of soft plastics easy.

I just spent a week using my Hill People Gear SAR Kit Bag Medium. I really like it for 'away from the boat/vehicle' fly fishing.

I used to use a Fishpond San Juan but it's a little too small and I can't hang a holster from it.

Yours looks really nice! I like how the hunting brands have kind of pushing into the fishing world and offered better (for me) solutions.

Damn that's a sweet looking chest pack.👍
I'm a big fan of carrying just a small, simple kit rather than a vest weighed down with anything and everything

Very nice. Really like the slot in the back for the pliers. The past 2 years i've made my FHF gear chest rig work for fishing, but that is definitely a better setup.

That looks very, very nice! I have the Marsupial Multi-Pack and like it a lot as well. It is a little bulkier though, but I do tend to carry enough stuff to fill it up. I'll put a small tackle box near my chest and use the fold down front pocket for soft plastics, etc. It also works really well for a turkey chest rig too with small binos near my chest and my calls/ammo on the fold down front pocket. Very versatile piece of gear. If I need even more gear for a full-day outing, I'll add on my Kifaru Rogan fanny pack (which I also really like)...

I use pretty exclusively Fishpond and Simms gear storage solutions when I'm fly fishing. You should check out the Fishpond selection. It's quite good.
