Cheap Wall Tent

I have a late season AZ hunt this fall and was looking for a smaller wall tent for myself and possibly 1 other person. I stumbled upon this and given the price, wondering if it will be sufficent for my trip. I dont see myself using a wall tent much in the future since most of myt hunts are back country type hunts. Figured for the price it might not hurt to try. Looking for a more room than my SO 8 Person Tipi with stove and think this would work well with a small propane heater for truck camping. I know you get what you pay for but given the price, I might go ahead and give it a try. Any thoughts?

That looks interesting. I used a Harbor Freight portable garage (10x17 I think) for two years, worked great.

A small Kodiak would allow you to get most of your money back. Walmart stuff not so much.

I was going to suggest Kodiak too. Not a wall tent per se, but similar. We have a 10x14 and love it. The Walmart tent approached 3/4 of the price of a 10x10.

Well the biggest difference is about $1200! There are some drawbacks to the Harbor Freight setup, first is condensation buildup. we used a Big Buddy heater in it and there would be a little condensation on the walls in the morning. The second is heat retention. I imagine a canvas tent would retain heat a little better. Some advantages over a canvas wall tent other than price is the care, durability and waterproofness. I didn't have to worry as much about putting it away wet because its just heavy duty tarp material, which stood up very well to rain and melting snow. Overall, for the price I love it and would recommend it. I sold it and purchased the Cabelas Alaknak and have loved it.

I own and have used Kirkham's Springbar tents and Kodiak Canvas tents. Both have worked great for me.

As many have said, with the polyester material you may experience above average condensation when using a propane heater. You do have an advantage with the tent having windows as this can let some of that moisture out if the temperature allows. A cotton canvas structure is going to allow for more breathability.

There has been a rise in popularity of the canvas tent in the "Glamping" community, so there is definitely an upside if you decide to go canvas and want to re-sell.

We have the 12X9 deluxe we bought from Cabela's on sale. Very on sale. With the enclosed vestibule it has been a fantastic tool. Looks like they only carry the springbar models now.

Someday we will buy a full wall tent, but for now this one is great.

How would this model work with the attacked full enclodue vestibule with snow? The vestibule attaches with velcro correct?

Did you have any issues with wind or tying it down? Strongly considering the route for an early season hunt in AZ.

I've never had it set up in the snow but we have weathered significant wind and rain. The actual vestibule roof section is sewed into the tent. The walls that make up the vestibule enclosure velcros and ties to the tent, stakes to the ground, and is loop velcroed to the support bars. But the roof is actually part of the tent. Kodiak says to take the vestibule down in heavy wind. We don't do that. We stake and guyline like pros though.
