Cheap Stuff that Works

Hitch hauls. Mine is 35 years old and cost me less than $100. I got a wire brush out last week, put some primer over the worst of it and gave it a fresh coat of paint. Like me, mine is pretty beat up and a little bent but it has carried dead deer and gear all over this country. IMO, one of the best pieces of gear a hunter can buy.

The Orvis Tech pants from Costco even better price than Wranglers. It seems comparable to the wranglers material wise at 17.99 direct at the Costco store. I have the Kuiu Tiburon and find them very similar to the wranglers minus the hip vents. Wranglers are more durable not as fragile as the tiburon. For hot weather the Orvis will most likely work as well.
Which version of the wranglers do you think are similar to the tiburons? I like the tiburons and would love something similar for less than half the cost.

Wrangler Outdoor pants, I own at least a dozen pairs. Great stretch, durability & water resistance. When I first found them, I threw all my other khakis out. I wear them daily as work pants, but they find themselves in the woods quite a bit too.

I do own 2 pairs of kuiu tiburons and they are great, but not near as durable as the wranglers. Hard to find a better value, I've been wearing them almost exclusively for at least 5 years. The oldest have faded and are pilling in the crotch, but are still more than serviceable.

Not super cheap, 30.00 ish. Love this rechargeable fan / light from Amazon. Hunting southeast Texas out of small tent it was a life saver.

Would you wear these on mountain hunts?

These are BOGO 50% off direct for those than don't have costco

I think they’re called “stretch nylon” or there’s several under their “atg” line same material just different pocket layout. I thought the atg fabric was more water resistant but swishy, the regular nylon version was quieter. Not sure any of them are a direct comparison to the Tiburon which is very geared towards hot weather. Any of the thin nylon wrangler pants are good into the 80s and warm enough on a chilly morning. Tiburons are great for heat but under 55-60° I needed a layer underneath.

For the love of all things holy...please stop pushing the Wrangler Outoddor Flex. Availabilty is scarce!! I actually like the Orvis Tech pants a little bit better. Seem a little more durable. I've worn them on quick hunts after work and I would have zero issue spending a week in the the mountains wearing them, or the Wranglers.

I prefer the weatherproof and orvis from costco, they just fit better. Orvis pockets are a little shallow though. Sams has some, i think called denali that are a little lighter but still durable and fit well. The weatherproof are a touch heavier than the others, about like the wranglers i’ve seen.

The Wrangler pants did not have enough room in the thighs for me. Neither did the Orvis pants. Had to go to the Duluth flex dry on the fly and flexpedition pants - in relaxed fit - to make them work. We don’t skip leg day here.

Headlamps, Convoy is a custom Chinese light supplier. Simon the owner lives in Singapore his customer service is great!
I've slowly started to swap out my AA and AAA cheap headlamps out for rechargeable 18650/21700s. The runtime is longer and the LEDs are better quality.

I went down the rabbit hole of quality high CRI lights and blood tracking. The color red its the hardest color for LEDs to produce. Getting a good LED (not light) makes a huge difference. Most manufactures choose the brighter LEDs that dont reproduce the red colors.

You can have your own custom headlamp specked out for $20-$30 with free shipping. B35AM, XHP50.3 9050, XHP70.3 9050, 519A are all good lights for our applications paired with a "Boost Driver" for any style light.

They're on Chinese holidays so you'll have to wait to place an order.

I guess we're lucky in the Midwest. Wal-Mart has racks full of them anytime I find my way in there..

Fleece neck warmer my wife gave me. Her company issues them to their security officers for the colder months. Granted, it's not camo or covered in logos (dark navy), but it was absolutely free and warm as hell.

This is one of those pieces of clothing I absolutely cannot fathom spending money on. I see the big brands charging $40-60 for a "fancy" one and shake my head.
