These drop - in manufacturers are really doing a good job.

I have a rifle I set up in a LSS chassis for a short shooter. The adjustable stock and vertical grip makes it more “cool” for a certain 15 year old. Recently picked up a Grayboe Outlander in the classifieds. The receiver is a Bighorn, the Grayboe was inletted for a REM 700, it took a little work, had to open the port cut out just a bit, that was it. The barrel is wide, Savage Mag contour so that took a little work also. Overall impression of the Grayboe is good, 26oz on the scale.

I was interested in finding out if there were going be need to be scope adjustments made from chassis to stock, and the effects on accuracy if any. I am pleased to report there is no shift in zero, which surprised me. Neither stock nor chassis is bedded to the action. While it could have been the day, I found that 10 round groups were considerably smaller with the Grayboe, and the overall rig is 13oz lighter. I put a lot of that on the fact that the collapsible butt stock I have on the LSS is sloppy and rides the rear bag poorly. I suspect if both were mechanically stabilized removing the shooter from the equation that there would be no difference.

I’d be interested if anyone else has done a more scientific test.

No, but now thinking about it. I have a Christensen MPR that Ive been thinking about selling or trading because I’m just not enjoying the rifle that much. Don’t want to take a bath on trading it, so it pretty much sits in the safe. Price of a good stock is better than the hit I’d take trading it at any shop Ive visited and the ones listed on Gunbroker just sit there. Appreciate the idea!

You’d probably get a fair value out of your chassis on the used market if you decide to go that way. Eliminate the wait for someone who wants one.
