I changed out the oil on my new truck today with 560 miles on it. I'll do another around 1500 miles. I've read it helps to get out whatever was left behind in the manufacturing process and I've got nothing better to do, so why not. Surprised the oil was as dark as it was but the filter looked pretty clean and didn't see anything to be concerned about. I'll probably get the next oil I dump tested to see what that tells me. I put Pennzoil Platinum back in it but I have a stash of just about every brand of oil on my shelf. I'll use Castrol Edge at the next change and Mobil 1 once temps get below freezing. Going forward I'll use Castrol or Valvoline during the warm/hot months and Pennzoil or Mobil 1 for winter hunting season...just because they seem to have better flow in freezing temps but they all work IMO.
I'm getting the truck windows tinted on Friday and I'll order a new cap in the next few weeks. Just spreading out the cost. I'm trying to get it broken in and set up before the fall season rolls around. I've got some long trips planned this year and it's going to earn its keep come October.
