Chainsaw Question

I've been cutting stuff for years with a chainsaw.. bought my first saw last fall Stihl 250. Doesn't have the strength of the 880 but with a 20" bar it'll pull through a 30" trunk fast enough if I'm using a full chisel chain

372’s we’re husky’s best saw they’ve ever made except for maybe the 371 high tops. The 394/395’s were right up there but for an all around general purpose saw a 72’ will be hard to top. If you’re not happy with your 372 I don’t know that you’ll like a 572 much better?

I tend to avoid 1st generation of any saw after its release. The 550/562’s that everyone seems to love had issues out of the gate but we’re corrected after a year. The 441’s that stihl discontinued their 440’s for were such a disaster they brought back the 440’s for a short time. 661’s weren’t an overnight replacement of their 660’s etc….

I’d have a tough time finding a fault w/ a full wrapped 572 & 28 or 32” bar but if you didn’t like your 372 you might not like the new one. Depending on the age of your 372 (pre-xtorq?) the 572 will have an entirely different power band. More snappy, less throaty if that makes sense

I’ve got a 20 year old 351 Husky that’s been great. I got a hankering for a bigger saw after watching Bucking Billy Ray sing the praises of a longer bar on YouTube. I couldn’t find a 572 Husky in stock so I bought a Stihl 500i with a 28” light bar. That thing is more than I need but is incredible.

372 was a good saw model . Maybe 8 years ago picked up husky 576xp . It has been a good saw

562 works great for us, we have a 372 also.
Used the 562 to cut some hardwood this spring, no issues.
Big pecan blew over, the saw worked great on the green wood.

Check out the Echo brand saws. I had the Husky Rancher 550 and switched to the Echo 620P. I have cut 10 cords (oak& juniper) with it so far and really like the Echo. I read and watched several reviews before I bought it and nothing but good reviews. I just picked up a Stihl 311 and can't wait to try it out as a backup saw.

I have the Shindaiwa equivalent of that Echo 620P . That saws a beast . I try to buy local but at times the https://www.rcpw.com/equipment/ prices are hard to beat .

Hard to beat the 372s. I just picked up a 562, very nice saw, but wish I would have grabbed a 572- just wish it had a touch more power when running the longer bars.

As others have said, much more saw than needed for just cutting firewood, but you certainly wouldn’t regret buying.

I've run Stihl, Echo, Husqvarna, and Jonsereds. My favorite saw for blocking firewood at a header was the 288 Husky. Heavy but would cut anything. The Jonsereds 70 was my go-to saw for years, replaced it with a 372. The 372 is an amazing all-around saw.
The 572 seems to be a great new saw to me, so far. The 572 has a different power band than the 372 but probably a little bit better if you're felling a lot. The Autotune is an advantage in general but you do have to always have fresh fuel and a fresh plug.

I definitely agree that the 372’s were Husky’s best small pro saw. I would pick a new one up in a heartbeat if I could find one.

I used one when our 395 was in the shop and holy crap that saw would eat. I think it will treat you well

Thanks. That makes me feel better about it. I haven't talked to anyone that has ran one. It is mainly going to have a 20" bar on it. But want to be able to use a 32" when needed.
